As mentioned in my recent post, one of my blogging friend’s blog is experiencing a sudden and sharp drop in the Google page rank from PR4 to PR0. His blog is all about teaching bloggers to use WordPress as the blogging platform. It is an educational and resourceful WordPress-teaching blog. Anybody can pick up some blogging skills and techniques from my friend’s blog quite easily.
I last heard from him was that his blog can draw more than 8,000 visitors per month and the number keeps growing steadily. The Google Page Rank of my friend’s WordPress-teaching blog was at PR3 and gradually climbed up to PR4. He was so happy and proud that he did broadcast the good news to his readers in his blog post. It was a great success for a 9-month young blog and definitely deserved to have a good celebration.
What could have gone wrong with the fallen page rank then? Well, nobody would know the answer exactly as to why a PR4 blog could drop to a PR0 suddenly without warning. Perhaps, Google could give my friend a good explanation for the page rank drop. The third party can only guess it could be due to this or that reason and nobody could give a definite answer other than Google.
One thing very obvious is that my blogging friend has been using the Pay-Per-Post services since one to two months ago in his blog. He is suspecting that this could be the root cause of his blog’s fallen page rank from PR4 to PR0. Maybe he is being slapped by Google for the Pay-Per-Post services which Google hates very much. If this is really true, we can see that there is a price to pay for using Pay-Per-Post services on your blog.
But, is it a bad thing to use Pay-Per-Post services? Well, this topic is definitely open for debate. Besides Google, I know that a very respectable blog site called TechCrunch despise Pay-Per-Post services a lot. However, if viewing from a different perspective, Pay-Per-Post services are actually helping an average blogger to earn some real passive income by writing posts on reviews especially for the work-at-home moms or dads. This is a more realistic way to make money online than Google Adsense because not everybody can earn a massive income just like John Chow, ShoeMoney, ProBlogger, TechCrunch, etc.
What I can say is that different types of bloggers have different earning power. All bloggers have freedom to write their views and thoughts online through blog postings. It is up to the individuals to choose how they want to earn money online so long as they are not doing something unethically, illegally or unlawfully. We should respect the choice of others as a blogger. Let us leave some breathing space for our fellow bloggers if they choose to use Pay-Per-Post type of services. Let us also learn to respect others and learn to blog harmoniously in the blogosphere.
